IMREC is a new survey programme (initiated in 2020) which will see Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) gather information about recreational catches of fish along the coast and at sea which will improve the management of stocks, support conservation efforts and increase the availability of fish to sea anglers in the future.

All sea anglers – shore and boat anglers are invited to take part along with charter boat skippers. Throughout 2020, face to face surveys will be conducted on shore venues and at slipways and piers.  At the same time anglers will be invited to sign up to report their catches through a very simple on-line diary app which is currently in development.

The survey is highly dependent on public participation for it to be a success. So anyone with an interest in the sea angling resource is asked to come along. Diarmuid Ryan will be available to answer any questions which you may have.
